RED ROSES FOR JANE

THE FIRST ANNUAL PRETTY MUCH WORLD FAMOUS VALENTINY WRITING CONTEST!!!

Valen-tiny because the stories are not very long and are written for little people 🙂

The Contest:  since writing for children is all about “big emotion for little people” (I forget who said that, but someone did so I put it in quotes!) and Valentines Day is all about emotion, write a Valentines story appropriate for children (children here defined as ages 12 and under) maximum 214 words in which someone is grumpy!  Your story can be poetry or prose, sweet, funny, surprising or anything in between, but it will only count for the contest if it includes someone grumpy (can be the main character but doesn’t have to be) and is 214 words max (get it? 2/14 for Valentines Day 🙂  You can go under the word count but not over! Title is not included in the word count.  No illustration notes please!

Post your story on your blog between right now this very second and Friday February 12th by 11:59 PM EDT and add your post-specific link to the list below on @http://susannahill.blogspot.ug/

Below is my entry (214 words)

 RED ROSES FOR JANE

As you know, valentine’s day you got to dress to kill. So, Jane was planning to go for a valentine’s dinner with her boyfriend Jakey.

“Jessica come here”, Jane yells out the maids name. Tells her to iron for her a dress. Unfortunately, Jessica accidentally burns it. Jane found Jessica trying to hide the dress from her. Jane yells out in a high tone; let me hope you didn’t burn my dress. She puts on her fury face and slaps Jessica as she whispers that was the only dress I had left to wear to night.

She hears a knock on the door. It was Jakey, Jane opens the door with a sad face. Jakey asks, “What could be the problem?” she just turns away, then Jakey whispers in her ear, check what I have got for you. Here are some red roses and chocolate for you. With a loud tone, Jane tells Jakey, I don’t like red roses. Jakey whispers to himself in mind, “She is so grumpy”. As Jane checks in her closet, she finds two dresses one was white and another pink. So, Jakey suggested the white one and she didn’t like it, that it glows a lot at night. She decided to go with the pink one for the dinner.

I think I’m very glad I’m not Jane’s maid 🙂 You did a great job of showing Jane’s character – grumpy and bossy and spirited! And how nice for her that Jakey seems to understand her. Thanks so much for joining in the Valentiny Contest fun, Kim!
